The jig is up. Dating back to regulations from LBJ’s presidency, radical left wing groups like the ACLU and the AU have intimidated clergy into political silence. The AU (Americans United) recently sent out 60,000 letters to churches around the country stating that “If the IRS determines that your house of worship has engaged in unlawful intervention, it can revoke the instutuion’s tax-exempt status.”

Thousands of pastors and priests united in recent weeks to take back their freedom of speech in the pulpit. Videos were made and sent to the IRS, daring the agency to come after them. Citizens from all over the country contacted congress and the IRS demanding free speech rights for their clergy. Overwhelmed by public sentiment, the IRS has issued an official statement within the last two weeks:

“Churches are tax-exempt inherently,” said Mat Staver. “They don’t need a letter from the IRS to be tax exempt, so their tax-exempt status cannot be taken away by the IRS.” The IRS spokesman also stated that “they are not going to do any audits because they do not have the authority to do so.”

However – this issue continues to heat up. Keep those cards & letters coming to your congressmen.

On the flip side, there is a watch dog group demanding the Catholic Church’s tax exempt status be revoked because they publicly endorsed Romney.
Catholics and Politics

It has been going on for years, but the U.S. advertises in Mexico, encouraging Mexican citizens to participate in America’s food stamp program.

Some of the materials the USDA encourages the Mexican government to use to educate and promote the benefit programs are available free online for order and download. A partial list of materials include English and Spanish brochures titled “Five Easy Steps To Snap Benefits,” “How To Get Food Help — A Consumer’s Guide to FNCS Programs,” “Ending Hunger Improving Nutrition Combating Obesity,” and posters with slogans like “Food Stamps Make America Stronger.”

When asked for details and to elaborate on the program, USDA stressed it was established in 2004 and not meant for illegal immigrants.

This one is just for consideration in regard to our “food freedoms” and the Nanny State wanting to make decisions for us, as they believe we are incapable of taking care of ourselves. — In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Mayor Bloomberg of New York has outlawed food donations to the homeless, as there is no way to determine the salt, fat or fiber content. (I am serious as a high-cholesterol heart attack here)
